The Luster of Las Perlas
Day 1: When you arrive at the Panama airport, you will be greeted by a crew
member and whisked away to the Marina Flamenco where the tender awaits you.
Once onboard your charter yacht, relaxation begins!
Day 2: Our first stop is beautiful Contadora Island, discovered by Balboa in
1513 A.D. There is plenty to do here: snorkeling, beautiful beaches, fishing and
playing on the water toys. If you prefer to visit the island, you will find you can
walk it in about an hour, and the 300 or so citizens who live here are very friendly.
Day 3: Pacheca and Pachequilla Islands will be visited today. These are the
northern most islands in the Las Perlas Archipelago. Both are uninhabited,
except for large colonies of frigates, pelicans and cormorants. Isla Pacheca also
features an excellent beach.
Day 4: The 12 beaches of Bartomlome Island beckons us today. A beach an
hour? Or several hours on one beach. Ah, the decisions that one has to make!
Day 5: Privacy. It is very precious thing, often sought, but seldom discovered.
Today, we luxuriate in the privacy of Isla Chapera or Mogo Mogo. Private, serene.
Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking…everything except peoplewatching.
Day 6: Famous for its herb plantations, Isla Pedro Gonzales is our stop
today. The island is hilly, making for good hiking. There is also a small village to
explore. Perhaps we can bring back some fresh herbs for the chef and discover
what magic will show up at our dinner table.
Day 7: Today is for the snorkelers and the shell seekers of the group, as we
make our way over to Isla Bayoneta. The submerged rocks near the headlands
are a snorkeler’s heaven. Large cowries are often found on the perfect white
sands of the beach on the west side of the island.
Day 8: La Mina, our island choice of today, features a spectacular beach,
perfect for a noon picnic. The semi-submerged mangroves will prove irresistible
for those who want to kayak.
Day 9: There is an awful lot to do today, as we are visiting Isla del Rey, the
“King’s Island”. Surf’s up! The west coast perfect for the surfers. There is an
old WWII airfield near Punta Cocos, on the southern end of the island. Still have
energy? Good, let’s visit Esmeralda Village which has inexpensive seafood and a
few basic shops for the shopaholics.
Day 10: Island San Jose is the second largest island in the archipelago and
features 14,400 acres of unspoiled virgin rainforest. The water surrounding the
island is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, snorkeling or diving.
Day 11: Return to Flamenco Marina, where you will then be escorted back to
the airport, which is about an hour away.
