Discovering Greece
Day 1: Arrive in Athens and be greeted
by one of your crew members and whisked to your yacht, lying
in her berth in Pireaus. Settle in as you cruise to Epidavros.
Day 2:
After breakfast onboard, explore the wonders of ancient
Epidavros, the famous sanctuary to the god of healing. Return
to your yacht for a late lunch, then head on down the coast
to the island of Poros. Spend the evening in the delightful
village of Poros, perhaps eating at one of the tavernas
to sample the local cuisine, and the local atmosphere!
Day 3:
Rent scooters for a quick island tour in the morning. Leave
in plenty of time for a swim and lunch in one of the many
coves on the way to Porto Helio. Anchoring in its large
protected lagoon, take a quick trip to nearby Spetses. After
a stroll and an ouzo at one of the waterfront tavernas,
return to the yacht for a late supper under the stars.
Day 4:
After breakfast, pile into the tender with your swim gear
to explore the myriad of private inlets. Finish with a late
lunch at the waterside tavera of Hinitsa. Back to the yacht
for a nap as your yacht moves on up to Nafplio.
Day 5: The
early risers can take an athletic excursion up to steps
(999 of them?) to the fort of Palamidi, while the more sedate
of the group enjoy another cup of coffee! Then head down
to the southern end of Peloponnese to the village of village
of Monemvassia. There is a mini Rock of Gibraltar (more
like the boulder of Gibraltar), but the real interest is
the ancient town… and the shopping!
Day 6:
Leave Monemvassia behind and head back north, up to the
lovely island of Hydra. Hydra is a lovely little island,
your choices for traveling around are: walk or take a taxi.
Be warned, the taxi will have 4 legs and a tail.
Day 7:
One last breakfast on deck, and head back to Pireaus. It
was a lovely holiday, you had a wonderful time, the only
problem is that it was too short. Next year, two weeks,
not one!
