Day
1:
Arriving in Martinique, you are greeted by your captain at
the airport and whisked back to your charter yacht. You quickly
settle in and come back on deck to watch the world go by as
you motor up the coast to St. Pierre. This town was once known
as the "Paris of the Caribbean", until Mt. Pelee
erupted on May 8th, 1902, killing 29,933 people. Visit the
(rebuilt) town, or visit Plantation Ceron, a fine example
of plantation prior to the eruption.
Day
2:
After a sumptuous breakfast, your charter yacht heads north
to the wild beauty of Dominica. While it would be wonderful
to anchor in Soufriere Bay, it is forbidden, as it is a designated
Marine Park. The diving and snorkeling sites are all outside
the boundaries of the park, and you can return with a dive
boat, once you have arrived in Roseau.
Day 3:
Yesterday you explored underwater, today is a grand day to
get an early start and hike to Boiling Lake. Your captain
will contact a guide for you, and your chef will pack a lunch
for you to enjoy at the lake. It is an 8 mile walk each way,
but well worth the substantial effort to do so!
Day
4:
After the exertions of yesterday, today is a "relax"
day. Allow your crew to pamper you as your yacht heads north
once again. A quick stop at the village of Layou to explore
the Layou River by dinghy is a good option. Afterwards, perhaps
a quick nap is on your agenda as the yacht proceeds on up
to Portsmouth for the night.
Day 5:
Dominica is so unique, you will want to take one day to explore.
Hire a guide to take you up the Indian River, or go hiking
in the Cabrits National Park or Syndicate Rainforest. In the
afternoon, you crew will take you to the Coconut Beach Hotel
for the fabulous snorkeling in its tiny bay.
Day
6:
Leave the untamed wilderness of Dominica behind for Iles des
Saintes. Belonging to Guadeloupe, this tiny group of islands
has glorious white sand beaches for those in the group who
need Beach Time. Or, take the opportunity to shop at the many
boutiques that proliferate in Saintes.
Day 7:
Your last breakfast on board is a celebration honoring your
adventure. Too soon, it is time to head over to Pointe-a-Pitre
on Guadeloupe for you departure home.
